Working while on Austudy
You can work while getting Austudy, but you must report your gross earnings each fortnight. Earnings above the income free area reduce your payment, though unused free area builds up in an income bank that can protect later earnings.

Reporting checklist
- Report gross (before-tax) pay for the fortnight you earned it, not when paid.
- Include all jobs and partner income.
- Keep payslips.
Watch for
- Heavy work hours shouldn't drop your study below full-time.
- Large one-off payments (e.g. backpay) — report them.
